Welcome to the website for the Vintage Airstream Club's 2023 Rocky Mountain Rally We call our settlement the Rockin' Wally-B Ranch you won't find it on a map, yet it is real...it exists wherever we are!  We will gather for four days/three nights between Poncha Springs & Salida, Colorado at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds July 13-16, 2023 The Upper Arkansas Valley is home to the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. It's nestled along the picturesque Arkansas River and surrounded by the majestic snow capped peaks of the Sawatch & Mosquito Ranges, the San Isabel National Forest and the Sangre Cristo Mountains some of the most photographed areas in the world. Our rally site will be a terrific homebase for exploring... Poncha Springs - 1 miles Salida - 4 miles Buena Vista - 27 miles and Westcliffe - 59 miles... which is a great place to stop for the night, if you are coming from the south Poncha Springs calls itself "Crossroads of the Rockies" due to the intersection of two main thoroughfares in town. US 50 runs through the town east-west, while US 285 runs through north-south. It's also the gateway to 14 mountian peaks over 14,000 ft! The Salida Downtown Historic District is a delightful little artist community that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The towns's nickname is "Heart of the Rockies"... and it's the "Heart of the RMVAC" too as we have held two previous rallies at this location. Salida's elevation is 7,083 and Poncha Springs is 7,464. In July, the temperatures will range from mid 80's to upper 40's and a thunderstorm could drop some rain. As with previous RMVAC rallies, we will be dry-camping "Wally-Style" which means dry camping for the most part. There are "cowboy showers", a wastewater dump site & restroom facilities on-site that will be available for our use. There are also a very limited number of electrical hook-up sites (for those with medical needs) on a pre-arranged basis. Things to Do in the area include soaking in the hot springs, biking, golfing, hiking, climbing a 14-er, jeeping, frolicking in the Arkansas River, strolling around the small towns, fishing, kite flying, touring...and of course, hanging out with 140+ of your best Airstream friends!
